Pranayama is a type of yogic breathing exercise that helps to regulate the breath and promote relaxation. It is believed to help improve physical and mental health, as well as increase energy levels. Pranayama is often used in conjunction with meditation and other yoga practices.

Pranayama is the practice of controlled breathing called yogic breathing. Pranayama revitalizes the body, balances emotions, and promotes clarity of mind and intellect. All breathing exercises are performed sitting down, keeping the spine, neck, and the head in a straight line.

Pranayama is a method to transmute creative energy that relies on a combination of sexual chastity (restraint or containment of sexual energy),concentration, imagination, and breathing. The word pranayama comes from Sanskrit and is composed of:

Ayama: restraint or control
Although anyone can utilize pranayama techniques, they are most important for practitioners who are single.
